If you are interested in either learning how to groom your own dogs at home or have a dream to learn the art of dog grooming and enter this rewarding industry, there are a variety of courses available including a 1-day learn to groom your own dog course, short courses and Certificate III in Pet Grooming.

1-day learn to groom your own dog course

Bring your own dog and learn the basics so you can groom at home.

Certificate III in Pet Grooming

Nationally recognised certificate course.

Short Courses

Short courses are available from Level 1 to Level 5.

 
1-day learn to groom your own dog course

Bring your own dog and learn the basics so you can groom at home.

​Includes washing, drying, nails, grooming and clipping.

 
Certificate III in Pet Grooming

This nationally recognised certificate course is run in conjunction with International Grooming Company and Parramatta College (RTO No.90276).

 

Course Structure:

4 weeks (20 days) training on site at A Touch of Class Grooming Salon where you will learn all the necessary training and skills required for a career in grooming such as pre-groom, washing, trimming, clipping & scissor techniques, customer service, animal health & safety, animal care and styling.

 

Practical assessments are conducted under the supervision of Michelle Warren.

 

Online assessments are also to be completed via the International Grooming Company's e-learning platform. 

 
Short Courses

During these short courses you will learn everything from washing, drying and trimming nails in Level 1, through to creative grooming in Level 5 with each level consisting of 5 days of training.

Level 1:

Course content:

  • Introduction to Dog Grooming, designed for those interested in grooming their own dogs at home.

  • Learn about grooming equipment, Bathing, Drying, Trim Nails, Tidy the pads, pluck ears, hygienic areas, grooming out the coat and clipping your dog. 

Level 2:

Course content:

  • This is the next level for those wishing to continue on with their grooming classes.

  • Learn how to groom dogs with the correct equipment and techniques for clipping and scissoring. 

  • Knowing which of the blades/ snap-on combs/ tools of trade, to use is a must and will be covered in this level.

Level 3:

Course content:

  • You must have completed Levels 1 and 2

  • Breed clips

  • Trimming up faces

Level 4:

Course content:

  • It is time to focus on technique and time frame. This is for those students who are serious about working in or running their own salon.

Level 5:

Course content:

  • Time for some fun!! During these 5 days you will learn some creative grooming skills. Have fun with colours and let your creativity come alive.

  • Understanding your client's needs and requirements.

NEVER more than 6 students per class so you are guaranteed to get personal attention from a respected industry trainer.
